About SAWS:
SAWS is a Section 3(a) public entity operating under the Ministry of Water and Environmental Affairs. It’s more than just predicting the weather; it’s an authoritative voice in weather and climate forecasting in South Africa and is a member of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), adhering to international meteorological standards. As an Aviation Meteorological Authority, SAWS plays a crucial role in providing weather services to the aviation industry, marine sector, and various other clients, fulfilling government’s international obligations.
Internship Details:
- Internship Fields: Research Department
- Qualifications: Applicants must have an appropriate Bachelor’s degree in fields such as Atmospheric Physics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Energy Studies, or related disciplines.

- Total Package: SAWS offers a monthly stipend of R6,500.00
- Successful candidates are responsible for their accommodation and transport.
- Completion of the internship program does not guarantee employment by SAWS.
- Attach a transcript of the relevant tertiary qualification (Degree/Bachelor of Science) related to the specified fields.
- Be a graduate or have experienced unemployment after completing a tertiary qualification.
- Be within 18-35 years of age.
